The Celluloid
Chronicles!
Who are we?
Welcome to the Celluloid Chronicles! Here we do a little of everything. We’ve got a blog about research and innovations in the historical photography methods and equipment. We also have an ongoing book series called the Celluloid Chronicles, where each issue looks in depth at a different historical photographic method of developing images. We also host events at Universities and in public events to help educate new people on original photographic methods.
Follow along and explore the wonderful world of historical processing!
The Complete Cyanotype Cyclopedia is available at the Lunenburg Academy Library!
The Celluloid Chronicles was created by Lunenburg native Morgan Landry as part of her thesis project in her undergraduate studies. The organization focuses on historical photography education, camera repair, and set design. In honour of her graduation from the Toronto Metropolitan University Image Arts Film Studies program, Morgan has donated two copies of her book “The Complete Cyanotype Cyclopedia” to the Lunenburg Library as well as multiple handmade bookmarks using the photographic process.
The books include the history of how cyanotype photography came to be, historical uses, the science behind why the process works, and a step by step tutorial on how to make cyanotype prints at home! With these books published on Amazon, and now also freely available at the Lunenburg Library, we encourage you to have a cyanotype summer and send us your creations!
